Calhoun Community College Appoints New Dean of Health Sciences
Calhoun Community College is excited to announce that Dr. Tiffany Bain has been named Dean of Health Sciences, effective December 2, 2025. Dr. Bain has been an integral part of the Calhoun family for several years, most recently serving as Interim Dean of Health Sciences. Her appointment follows more than sixteen years of combined clinical practice and academic leadership in the allied health field.
According to Dr. Jimmy Hodges, Calhoun President, Bain first joined the college in 2011 as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) faculty member and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. Her expertise and commitment to student success led to her selection as Department Chair of Allied Health in 2019, where she oversaw multiple programs and supported faculty development. In October, she was named Interim Dean of Health Sciences before assuming the permanent role.
Her extensive background includes curriculum development, program evaluation, clinical partnership expansion, accreditation oversight, and strategic planning. Dr. Bain has taught across the PTA curriculum, organized community outreach and continuing education events, and presented at regional and national conferences. She has also served on numerous institutional committees at the college, including Faculty Senate, Student Conduct, Academic Assessment, and PTA Admissions.
“Dr. Bain brings a remarkable depth of experience and a genuine passion for the work we do,” says Hodges. “Her leadership, many years of training as a Physical Therapy Assistant Instructor, and her service as Department Chair of Allied Health have prepared her well for this important role. Her dedication to academic excellence will continue to strengthen Calhoun’s Health Sciences Division as we move forward,” he added.
Calhoun Vice President of Academic Affairs, Wes Rakestraw, also shared his support for the appointment. “Dr. Bain is a proven leader who consistently puts students, faculty, and program quality at the forefront. Her vision for academic innovation and her commitment to workforce readiness make her the right leader to guide our health sciences programs into the future.”
Dr. Bain’s educational journey reflects her commitment to academic excellence and continuous growth. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant from Wallace State Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness Management from Athens State University. She continued her studies at the University of Alabama, where she completed a Master of Arts in Health Studies. In 2024, she earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences with a focus on Exercise and Sports Science from Liberty University, graduating with honors.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Bain is devoted to her family. She and her husband, Ryan, enjoy a blended family of three children.
