About Us
The mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Since inception as a chapter of the international organization in 1989, The Nature Conservancy in Alabama has safeguarded more than 200,000 acres to protect hundreds of rare and imperiled species of plants and animals, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth. To protect Alabama’s ecologically important lands and waters, Conservancy staff use a science-based approach to pursue non-confrontational, pragmatic solutions to conservation challenges.
