MEMBER EVENT: NAITA Trade Compliance Roundtable on Defense & Aerospace
NAITA Trade Compliance Roundtable on Defense & Aerospace
Including Drones & UAVs
Export Compliance in Defense and Aerospace is no longer a linear, checkbox-driven process. While the underlying frameworks under the ITAR and EAR remain largely intact, the global trade environment has shifted aggressively. What used to be predictable is now dynamic, where enforcement scrutiny, and operational expectations have elevated compliance into a real-time risk management function that directly impacts mission success. This discussion focuses on that shift. How geopolitics, dual-use proliferation, and evolving enforcement posture are redefining how we operate, particularly in high-impact areas like drones and UAVs.
We will center on how mature organizations are adapting, and what separates them from reactive ones, including:
- Embedding compliance upstream into planning, operations, and decision-making rather than treating it as a downstream gate.
- Aligning licensing strategy with operational objectives to enable speed without sacrificing control.
- Managing technical data and software as primary compliance drivers, vs secondary considerations.
- Structuring programs that integrate compliance into real-time execution, including demos, repairs, and international engagements.
- Building internal cultures where compliance is not a function, but a core operational capacity.
