MEMBER EVENT: NAITA Trade Compliance Roundtable
From the Trenches: Coordinating, Drafting & Maintaining Your Export License or Agreement
Join NAITA and Presenting Sponsor Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP for a discussion of export compliance best practices from an export license coordinator’s perspective. Jared Hunt, Export Licensing Coordinator for Raytheon Company in Huntsville, will discuss export compliance issues related to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) when applying for an export license or drafting and maintaining an ITAR agreement. Compliance challenges, including those related to Export Control Reform will also be addressed.
Hunt’s experience working for both small and large companies, technology and hardware companies – and now dealing with a corporate compliance office – provides insight into differences in how companies of various sizes manage export compliance challenges. While the scale and individual responsibilities may vary between a small business with one person wearing multiple hats and a large business with a corporate export compliance department, the desired outcome is the same. Everyone must comply with export regulations and do their due diligence to have policies and procedures in place to provide the best outcome.
This roundtable will provide tips and best practices for the person/group responsible for drafting an export license application or agreement and will lead into the NAITA Export Control Update on September 1-2, which will include a workshop on Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) with a Raytheon Missile Systems Sr. Licensing Manager and Empowered Official.
Hunt has worked for Raytheon Missile Systems since 2012 supporting the export compliance needs of multiple programs across the business unit. Prior to joining Raytheon, he was an Export Administrator for Wyle CAS Group, where he provided export licensing support to all programs within the company, including all FMS efforts.
