In one day, hundreds (or maybe thousands) of children ages three to eight years of age, and adults who care about them, will come together to raise awareness of the importance of reading by sharing this one special picture book, Not Norman: A Goldfish Story by Kelly Bennett.
Locally, United Way of Madison County and the Junior League of Huntsville for the fourth year in a row are partnering with support from lots of local partners including the Huntsville Botanical Garden, the Huntsville/Madison County Public Library, Sci-Quest, plus many volunteers and preschool classrooms.
"Last year Madison County set a new reading record with more than 1,800 children locally and more than 2 million nationally. United Way aims, with the help of community partners, to raise the record in Madison County to more than 2,000," says Community Impact Director, Cathy Miller, of United Way.
To learn more about how you can volunteer, check out our needs here or call our office at 256-518-8203 to register.
