The Fall Trolley Tech Tour will focus on CRP’s legacy and growing industries of telecommunications and the Internet of Things (IoT). We may know or have heard a lot more about the evolving world of telecommunications, the cloud, internet-based products or technologies, and voice-over-internet-protocol (VOIP) in our daily world…but what is IoT and why should it matter to you?
 
IoT is about connecting things – objects, animals or people (literally, everything and anything!) – so they can have the ability to become "smart" allowing it to then transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction. Simply put, IoT is about connecting the physical world to the mobile, web-based world we actually spend most of our time in these days.
 
The three companies highlighted are intertwined, unique, and at the cutting-edge of developing telecom technologies, applications and products. This tour truly will give you a slice of why innovation is our DNA in Cummings Research Park! Come enjoy wine/beer and appetizers as we visit, see and learn about Huntsville homegrown companies: Digium, Synapse Wireless, and ADTRAN – all located in CRP West.
 
Rain or shine, the Trolley rolls at 5:30 p.m. from Digium, located at 445 Jan Davis Drive. 
 
Registration is limited due to trolley size. Must be 18 years or older. Attendees must be U.S. citizens.
