Huntsville-Based CFD Research Expands Midwest Team with New Leadership

(Huntsville, Ala.) - CFD Research is pleased to welcome Mr. Darrell Phillipson as Vice President of the Midwest Research and Development Center and Deputy for the Intelligence & Sensing Division. With over 30 years of experience in science and technology leadership, Darrell is well-prepared to help guide CFD Research in expanding its operations and driving growth in both Dayton, Ohio, and Huntsville, Alabama.

In his new role, Darrell will oversee the operations and P&L strategy for the Midwest Research and Development Center and will be responsible for managing key functions, including facilities, security, and community engagement. He will also lead efforts to foster employee development, help attract and retain exceptional talent, and strengthen community engagement.

Before joining CFD Research, Darrell held senior leadership positions, including Director of the Materials & Manufacturing Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). There, he managed a $230M+ budget and led a team of over 1,100 staff. His experience includes managing large-scale R&D portfolios and leading cross-sector collaborations, making him a valuable addition to the CFD Research team.

Darrell holds a MS in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy. His extensive background in both government and industry positions him to drive strategic initiatives for CFD Research and contribute to the division’s continued success.
