Cody Smith to Lead SS&L Architects' North Alabama, Tennessee Markets

HUNTSVILLE, AL — SS&L Architects is pleased to announce that Cody Smith has transitioned from our Montgomery office to Huntsville, where he will lead our firm’s efforts across the North Alabama and Tennessee markets.

A 2017 graduate of Mississippi State University, Cody earned the Undergraduate Research Award for his academic work and quickly set a standard for early career achievement. In 2023, he received the Alabama Council of the AIA’s Young Architect Award—the highest honor for an emerging architect in the state—recognizing his leadership, service, and substantial contributions to the profession. Cody has also held several leadership roles within AIA Montgomery and currently serves on the Alabama Center for Architecture Board, underscoring his continued investment in the architectural community.

Since joining SS&L, Cody has led the design and management of several complex projects across Alabama. He served as Project Manager for Alabama’s new Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) Board Distribution Center and Headquarters —one of the more recent and significant state agency projects. His portfolio also includes major work at Troy University, including the Jones Hall Health Science Building, the Center for Materials and Manufacturing Sciences, and the Student Fitness Center. He has also provided design leadership for the Opelika Police Department Headquarters and Alabama Orthopedic Specialists Office. Cody’s talent and expertise blends design excellence with technical precision.
