Calhoun's Warhawk Ambassador Program still accepting applications for partial scholarships

Calhoun Community College’s Warhawk Student Ambassador Program is still accepting applications for the 2025–26 academic year, offering students an exciting blend of leadership, community service, and fun. This standout program awards partial scholarships and provides hands-on experience that builds both confidence and professional skills for life after college. There are no age restrictions, and all eligible students are encouraged to apply by the deadline of Friday, June 13, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CST.

This unique opportunity is ideal for Calhoun students who need financial assistance and are eager to lead and grow. The program includes:

  • Earning a partial scholarship (equivalent to six semester hours each fall and spring)

  • Leading campus tours and welcoming new students

  • Serving as the official host or hostess of the college at major events

  • Mentoring fellow students and promoting a strong campus community

  • Gaining public speaking experience and media exposure

  • Building lifelong friendships and a network of student leaders

  • Strengthening leadership and professional development skills

“Warhawk Ambassadors do not just represent the college. They also inspire their fellow students across our campuses,” said Raymond King, Calhoun’s Student Engagement Coordinator. “This program is incredibly popular. In fact, many people recognize our ambassadors even if they do not know them personally. While it is fun, full of energy, and filled with real world experiences that students can carry with them long after graduation, it is also a respected role on campus. Ambassadors serve as the official hosts and hostesses of the college and are highly regarded,” added King.

To qualify for the program, applicants must:

  • Be enrolled full time at Calhoun

  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Be a first-year or returning second-year student

  • Have an ACT score of 20 or higher

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Participate in tryouts

  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential and a positive personality

“This program helps students grow as leaders, build confidence, and become standout individuals in their college community,” said Kassie Mathis, Calhoun’s Vice President of Student Services. “It is one of Calhoun’s most exciting student opportunities, and we are looking forward to meeting our next slate of leaders,” added Mathis.
