About Us

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC), a commission of the State of Alabama, opened in 1970 and has since served more than 15 million visitors who come to learn more about the space program and America's contributions to it. The USSRC is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, and is the Official Visitor Information Center for the Marshall Space Flight Center. The USSRC has served guest from all 50 states and 58 international locations. It is the largest museum in the world devoted exclusively to the exhibition of space artifacts, housing more than 1,500 artifacts.
