About Us

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is a state agency with primary responsibility for statewide transportation by all modes of travel. ALDOT employs approximately 4,000 people and expends or disburses more than $600 million per year, including federal, state, and local funds.

The Department is organized into five geographic regions, with a Central Office located in Montgomery. The Central Office is organized into the Office of the Transportation Director and the Office of the Chief Engineer. The five Region Engineers report to the Director and Deputy Director, Operations.
