AshaKiran, with generous support from South Asian Americans Leading Together, will host a FREE new one-day I.C.E. Conference: Reframing the Conversation around Immigrants' Rights in Alabama.
The I.C.E. 'Inclusive Community Engagement' Conference will bring speakers from the ACLU of Alabama, Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama, Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice and the Etowah Visitation Project and explore strategies for activists, faith-based communities, legal advocates, and people interested in immigrants' rights.
Participants will examine the contemporary legal rights for immigrants in the aftermath of the repeal of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and current activism across the state to work with and alongside immigrants. There will also be valuable break-out sessions for participants to network and share with each other how they work for immigrants' rights in their own communities. Indeed, this event builds on the movement slogan, 'Nothing about us, without us!'
The I.C.E. Conference is FREE to attend with lunch provided, but registration is required. Participation is limited to 100 people.
