Shakespeare’s brilliant revenge tragedy, Macbeth, is featured for one night only as a staged reading during Huntsville Shakespeare’s 2018 inaugural season. Co-directed by Huntsville Shakes co-founders Dr. Chad Thomas and theatre professor Amy Guerin, a staged reading means that the actors will be seated with their scripts on music stands.
Staged readings give the ensemble, who will also be seen in mid-July’s Twelfth Night, the chance to focus on the text and also find innovative ways to interpret the play – in this case, based on imagery, ideas of gender and power, and relevance to our present day.
