Ryan Murphy
General Manager, The Orion Amphitheater
President / Managing Director, Huntsville Venue Group
TVG Hospitality
As president of Huntsville Venue Group, Ryan Murphy directed the design, construction and overall operation of the world-class, Huntsville-based Orion Amphitheater, which opened its doors on May 7, 2022. He also serves as general manager of both The Orion Amphitheater and the surrounding Apollo Park. In addition to his role at The Orion, Murphy works alongside a team of industry heavyweights on projects throughout Huntsville as well as Nashville, Austin, New York, and London.
Formerly the director of cultural events for the St. Johns County Cultural Events Division, Murphy spent the last decade overseeing programming, creative direction, promotion and daily operations for both the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. He also coordinated multiple large-scale events throughout and for the community including the Mumford and Sons’ “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover”, the City of St. Augustine’s 450th Birthday Celebration event, the annual Sing Out Loud Festival, and much more.
Murphy’s background is firmly grounded in 25 years of booking shows, managing venues and events, working at an internationally distributed independent record label, managing multiple artists as well as being a longtime touring musician. For him, all aspects of operations and management are rooted philosophically in what environment genuinely creates, and nurtures, the best experience for the artist, patrons, crew and all others attending the events that he and his staff are responsible for. This approach, as well as the execution of environmentally forward-thinking initiatives, the embracing of local nonprofits, and a full community-centric operation have made his venues extremely successful and well known throughout the industry.
