DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT!\n\n\n\nJoin us as we celebrate MSFC's 65th Anniversary!\n\n\n\nOn July 1\, 1960\, approximately 4\,000 employees at Redstone's Army Ballistic Missile Agency traded their Army badges for NASA badges\, Redstone transferred some 1\,900 acres to NASA\, and the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) was born. The race to beat the Soviet Union to the Moon was front and center in the collective national consciousness. \n\n\n\nAt that time\, the U.S. had just 15 minutes of experience with humans in space\, following Alan Shepard's successful Redstone Mercury mission\, on a rocket designed and built at Redstone. \n\n\n\nNow\, 65 years later\, MSFC has led the development of every one of NASA's rockets to put people into space and the effort to take us to the Moon. MSFC has also been a pioneer in the field of propulsion\, Space Science\, and environmental life support systems in space\, among many other fields in the enterprise of space exploration.  \n\n\n\nJoin us on July 17 as we celebrate this milestone occasion with Joseph Pelfrey\, the director of the Marshall Space Flight Center\, as we look back on these amazing accomplishments and consider the challenging road ahead as we return to the Moon and travel to Mars.
