Pizzelle’s Confections to Celebrate 6 Years in Business

Huntsville, AL – Locally-owned artisan chocolatiers and dessert café, Pizzelle’s Confections, is celebrating its 6-year anniversary on Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Pizzelle’s Confections was founded in 2012 by sisters Michelle Novosel Pennell and Caitlin Lyon. The sisters had a long-standing dream of owning a candy shop, and they held on to that dream even while they pursued other careers. Pizzelle’s was juried in at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment in 2012 and opened on March 16, 2013 with just 800 square feet total and seating for about 8 people. They decided to focus on fine, artisan chocolate and confections before attempting anything larger. But in 2016, they had the opportunity to expand into the space next door at Lowe Mill. This provided the perfect chance to create a dessert café and add cakes and pastries to the menu. In March 2017, the expanded café opened. Pizzelle’s can now seat about 55 people and has a full dessert and coffee menu that still focuses on artisan quality, incredible flavors, and local ingredients whenever possible. Everything on the menu is made from scratch, in house. Michelle is the Executive Chef and Chocolatier, and Caitlin is the General Manager. The expansion also enabled them to hire Emily Hawkins, Pastry Chef, who trained at the Culinary Institute of American in Napa, CA, and who specializes in gorgeous custom specialty cakes.

Pizzelle’s is known for artisan chocolates and specialty cakes, and there will be plenty of free samples for the 6th Anniversary celebration on March 16th. Also, customers who spend at least $10 will get a free half-size of Pizzelle’s Signature Drinking Chocolate all day.
