The Calhoun Community College Tech Prep Program will host it’s 2017 Career & Workforce expo on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in the Kelley Gymnasium on Calhoun’s Decatur campus.
Last year, over 1,000 students, parents, and educators from communities and school systems across Calhoun's service area attended. The Expo is targeted to high school and college students and brings together local businesses, industries and employers who provide the jobs in our area and the young people who will soon fill those jobs.
“The Career and Workforce Expo is an excellent way to reach hundreds of young people and provide them the opportunity to connect with various technical industry leaders,” commented Gwen Baker, coordinator of Calhoun’s Dual Enrollment and Tech Prep program. “Each year we strive to focus on bridging the skills gap identified by area businesses and industries among today’s workforce.”
The Career & Workforce Expo is an annual program sponsored by the Calhoun Community College Tech Prep Consortium in conjunction with the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and the Morgan County Economic Development Association. Further support is provided each year by area businesses and industries. Gold sponsor for the event is Joe Wheeler EMC. Additional sponsors are 3M, Nucor, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Toray, Pepsi, ALMAG Aluminum, Lyons, Steelcase, GE, Snap-on, RJ Young and Asahi Kasei Plastics.
The Calhoun Tech Prep Consortium includes Calhoun Community College, Athens City Schools, Decatur City Schools, Hartselle City Schools, Limestone County Schools, Madison City Schools, and Morgan County Schools.
