Bourbon Barrel Aged Laika To Be Released in 4-Pack Cans

Huntsville, AL – Straight to Ale is bringing back their Bourbon Barrel Aged Laika Russian Imperial Stout, now in in 4-pack cans for the first time. This beer is aged in Fresh Bourbon Barrels for 5 months. It is big, bold and complex in flavor, made with plenty of chocolate, dark crystal, roasted malts and molasses, that provide notes of coffee and bourbon and a slight alcohol warmth in the finish. Laika is shipping out to markets on November 20th, 2017.
It wouldn’t be a true Huntsville brew without a tie to space. Laika is named after the Russian space dog who was one of the first animals in space, and was the first to fully orbit the earth. Laika was launched in to space on the Sputnik 2 on November 3, 1957, so Straight to Ale keeps this brew launch in November in the pups honor. Though Laika the space dog never made the return trip, craft beer lovers will return again and again to this Russian Imperial Stout.
Bourbon Barrel Aged Laika is a multi-medal winning brew, named the best beer in Alabama by RateBeer. This is a seasonal can and draft release. Laika has a 10.1 ABV, 73 IBUs, and 46 SRM. It has almost a chewy mouth feel due to the ample amounts of flaked oats, wheat, and barley malts and just enough Golding Hops to help round it out. This delicious dark brew will keep you warm as the winter season rolls in, so look for it at a store near you! Straight to Ale distributes regionally, through seven states: Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi and Florida.
Laika’s awards:
Best Beer in Alabama – RateBeer
Paste Magazine’s #9 on their Top 100 List (2015)
97 Points – RateBeer
