  • About

Land Trust of North Alabama became Alabama's first land trust in 1987 and is the only local land trust dedicated to preserving land, water resources, and wildlife habitat in ten North Alabama counties.

Six Nature Preserves provide 65+ miles of public trails. Our flagship Preserve - Monte Sano Nature Preserve - is currently 1,107 acres and is one of the largest urban nature preserves in the US. It is the green backdrop for downtown Huntsville. Historic treasures, such as Three Caves, an original Trail of Tears route, and Madison County's first mill and tallest waterfall, are protected.
